The Cabbage Soup Diet

Day One
- Eat fruit except for bananas
- Only drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, water and cranberry juice.
- Eat as much cabbage soup as you like.

Day Two
- Eat as many fresh or cooked vegetables as you like, except peas and corn.
- Dinner can be a baked potato with butter.
- You can eat as much cabbage soup as you desire.
- No fruit.

Day Three
- You can eat everything from day one and two.
- No baked potato.

Day Four
- Eat lots of bananas (up to 8).
- Drink as much skim milk as you like.
- Eat as much cabbage soup as you like.

Day Five
- You can eat 300-500g of beef and 6 tomatoes (you can substitute beef for baked chicken or fish if you prefer).
- You must drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water to wash the uric acid from your body.
- You must eat the cabbage soup at least once.

Day Six
- Today is beef again, but with fresh vegetables or a salad.
- No potato.
- You must eat the cabbage soup at least once.

Day Seven
- Eat vegetables and brown rice.
- Drink unsweetened, natural fruit juices.
- You must eat the cabbage soup at least once.

My friend just sent this through to me, she's going to start this weekend. I think she's mad...but who am I do judge. So thought I would put it out to you all - has anyone done it??? Oh yeah, to make the cabbage soup, cook up the cabbage, onions, tomatoes, stock and onion soup mix.

Sounds impossible to me, but I'll let you know how she goes. She is actually doing it for a big family wedding, so needs to lose a few kilos fast.

Cabbage Soup Diet Results

Well, the results are in! The Cabbage Soup Diet resulted in a loss of 4 kilos by Day 5. But by Day 6, she said she was weak, dizzy and feeling very ill at the thought of cabbage soup!

Two weeks later she is 81kgs...1 kilo heavier than when she started!! And the wedding was on Saturday.

Lesson to us all? I think so!

NUMBER 1. Don't put unrealistic deadlines on ourselves. We might have a wedding to go to in a month, or want to look good for Christmas, but let's instead focus on looking good for life.

NUMBER 2. Crazy diets will not work! They just don't! It's amazing how much willpower it takes to stop us from doing them though ;)

Cabbage Soup Diet

Christie, I tried this so many years ago, I didn't even last one day. I couldn't stand the taste of the cabbage soup!! Sure it wasn't that bad, but I knew that if I couldn't get through one bowl, I would have no chance of surviving this diet. So I threw it all away!

Totally agree with the lessons though.
