Blood Type Diet

Has anyone done the Blood Type Diet and found success? I am Type O, and am curious to know whether that has some effect on the way my body processes food. Would love to hear feedback from any other Type O's or anyone who has tried the diet for their type!

The Blood Type Diet

Blood Group O is supposed to be the Hunter, as they think they were the original humans, or the earliest blood group. So these people were active, and ate quite a high protein diet with lots of meat including fish, fruit, vegetables and a few nuts. They didn’t eat dairy or any products from the agricultural age like wheat or other grains. So try to stick to mainly protein, fruit and vegetables, or things that you can find and eat in nature.

Group A’s are supposed to be cultivators, and evolved more recently after the agricultural revolution. This means they are better eating fruits, vegetables, legumes and more of the grains. They should try to stay clear of red meat, dairy products and animal fats. So it’s more like a vegetarian diet that is recommended for them.

Blood Group B they say are the nomads, and are pretty good with a balanced diet containing all the food groups. They are the only ones who are good with dairy foods, but are told to avoid chicken.

ABs are supposed to have evolved again more recently and should strike a balance between the A and B diet, so a balanced diet but not too heavy on red meat.

I did the blood type diet and got great results

I wouldn't believe it, i bought this book about the blood types and read it and got right into it. So i am following the diet and it is working well for me, i feel good and all that, then i realise i am a different blood type than the diet i was following!! :D So everything i was thinking about this amazing book, that is oh so written for me, was thrown out the door! I guess the changes delivered just the same changes any sensible and carefully selected diet would. It was funny how hooked i was though, i really thought it was personalised to me! Like all diets it was too restrictive and i began eating everything again. Would be interesting to hear from someone who actually followed the correct diet though for their blood type!

Blood Type Diet - Foods for Type O

The Eat Right Diet is the Blood Type Diet Book written by Dr Peter D’Adamo. I have it, so thought I would let you know some of the things they say about Type O’s.

Foods that are good for weight loss: kelp, seafood, iodized salt, liver, red meat, kale, spinach and broccoli.

Best meats: Beef, lamb, veal and venison. This is followed by chicken, duck, quail, rabbit and turkey. But it’s best to avoid pork.

Seafood: All seafood is good except barracuda, caviar, pickled herring, octopus and smoked salmon.

Dairy products and Eggs: Not great for the type O, so keep them to a minimum.

Nuts and seeds: Generally good for you, particularly walnuts and pumpkin seeds, although try to avoid brazil nuts, cashews, peanuts, pistachios and poppy seeds.

Cereals, Grains, Pasta, Bread: Try to keep to a minimum, especially wheat based products. Try brown rice bread, spelt, soy or 100% rye varieties.

Fruits and Vegetables: Generally they are all beneficial, but try to avoid oranges, melons, strawberries, alfalfa sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, olives, potatoes and corn.

I’m also type O, tried it for a while and did feel good.
